CALVES
A nice show of calves met a trade with more momentum than last week, with all sold to average £630.93. Bull calves reached £840 for a Limousin from D&M Foster, Out Rawcliffe with Aberdeen Angus from IT Richardson, Catforth next at £810 and £790. British Blues sold to £780 from JS Tower & H Kent, Dolphinholme with eight week old Hereford to £760 from WN&D Smith, Cockerham. Thirty day old bulls sold to £630 for Aberdeen Angus and £610 for British Blue both from JC Hewitt & Family, Nateby. Black and White bulls a flying trade reaching £440 from JS Towers & H Kent, Dolphinholme.
Heifer calves did not disappoint, reaching £820 for a British Blue from A&MA Wright, Roeburndale with Limousin from D&M Foster, Out Rawcliffe selling to £790. Aberdeen Angus to £700 from IT Richardson, Catforth with all bar a few small editions selling over £500.

STORE CATTLE
Lancasters renowned weekly sale of store cattle saw 200 again through the main ring, with a slight edge of the trade with buyers on a more cautious note, as talks of another drop in deadweight prime prices looming.
Best and biggest stores still over the £2450 barrier, with DE & SM Moorhouse, Natland topping the trade yet again with his quality run of cattle, with a Limousin steer at £2600. Other strong Limousin Steers to £2400 from H Chapman & Son, Carnforth. Angus steers, as always, very popular at Lancaster with R & E Butterfield who had a pair to £2480, with another pair from EW & CR Clegg, Stalmine at £2450. British Blues from J & M Cockett, Ingleton to £2450, other Blues to £2380 from TJ Lloyd, Settle and J Prest & Son, Bay Horse. Simmental steers to £2350 to H Chapman & Son, Carnforth while Charolais to £2500 from Cowell & Moore, Woodplumpton, others at £2300 from JM Haddow, Milnthorpe. J Prest & Son, Bay Horse continued their good days trading with their Herefords to £2320 who also had Dairy Bred Steers to £2320 for a Norweigian Red, with Friesians to £1950 from GR Park & Sonds, Whinfell
Heifer store cattle saw P & S Alpe, Waddington with their Angus heifers to £2180 with others from the same home at £2150, who also had Limousins at the same price. British Blues to £2150 for a pair from Holgate Caravans, Carnforth with others at the same from from SH & LE Birkett, Carnforth. Herefords from local Lancaster supporter DJ Towney, Stodday to £2080 for a pair.

OTM CATTLE
The OTM ring at Lancaster bucks the trend of falling beef prices, with a very pleasing average of 259p/kg, including some leaner types.
Top price per head and pence per kilo goes to a British Blue cow at £2457.18 or 369.5p/kg from HR & KA Hodgson, Barbon. Other beef bred OTM Cows from GR & A Foy, Conder Green too saw his Aberdeen Angus to £2298.84 or 269.5p/kg and Shorthorns to £2281 or 309.5p/kg, with Limousin OTM Cows to 354.5p/kg from CA & J Alty, Carnforth.
Dairy bred OTM Cows from RG & B Lewis, Carnforth to £2245 or 264.5p/kg for Friesians, with other Friesians to £2141 or 274.5p/kg from EW & RM Towers, Hornby.
OTM Heifers saw an average of 317.68p/kg, topping at 359.5p/kg or £2228.90 from AT Burrow & Son, Gressingham for a British Blue. Other British Blues at 349.5p/kg from Cowell & Moore, Woodplumpton. Angus OTM Heifers to 324.5p/kg from Wilmar Farms, Hereford OTM heifers to 344.5p/kg from WS Burrow Ltd, Silverdale. Friesian OTM heifers to 309.5p/kg from RE & P Miller, Barnacre.
Just a handful of Cast Steers topping at £2364.52 or 354.5p/kg for a Longhorn from Cowell & Moore, Woodplumpton.
Just one Cast bull today to 259.5p/kg from Wallbank Farms, Over Wyersdale.
